The price of working for a company for quite a long time makes you entitle to lots of benefits and privileges. The benefits that a tenured employee gets are usually mandated by law while some are company initiatives. Sometimes, these privileges can even extend to an employee’s immediate family members or beneficiaries. It is also because of these benefits that a worker becomes more inspired and encouraged to offer quality service and loyalty towards the company.
Unlike employees of the government that follows a standard procedure for acquiring security of tenure, private companies have their own respective policies. Adherence to these standard operating procedures is a must before any benefit can be availed. At the discretion of the private employer, these privileges may be increased or diminished provided that the laws governing labor will not be circumvented.
A tenured employee enjoys health benefits. Most companies have group health insurance policies taken out for their employees. The coverage may not be the same for rank and file and those belonging in the supervisory and managerial level but basically, primary health care is provided for all. Sometimes, other employers extend the benefit to the employee’s family members. In case there is none, an employee has the option to include his folks in the policy at his own expense.
Leave credits are among those that a regular employee will also get. One can take a holiday for a certain period of time while being paid at the same time. In some cases, unused leave credits can be converted into cash. Likewise, whenever an employee calls in sick, she can still be paid of his daily wage because the absence will be charged against his or her leave credits.
Bonuses are some of the benefits that a tenured employee gets. They can be given quarterly or annually depending on the company’s own policy. Undoubtedly something that every regular employee looks forward to receiving, a fat bonus is always a consolation to those who have rendered their best to the company.
